The WARL Past Players and Supporters Association is proud to sponsor the perpetual NRLWA Junior Club Person of the Year award. This award is presented to a junior club person who goes beyond just being a player, but represents the core values of being an exceptional club member with the clubs best interests at heart.
This year we are thrilled to see Fremantle Junior JACKSON MERRY receive the award from WARL PPS President John Moore at the NRLWA Junior Presentation night.
Jackson started playing for the Fremantle Roosters Rugby Club in the U6’s and currently is a member of the U16’s team.
Often seen at the club on both Junior and Senior games, Jackson arrives early and stays late in order to assist the set up and pack up of the grounds equipment. On Senior days he often acts as a ball boy for the Senior games and had also acted as one of the Ball Boys for the NRL Double Header at Perth Stadium.
Junior game days Jackson can be found helping out in the canteen, preparing food and working in customer relations.
Jackson also acts as a mentor with some of our younger grades during both Junior and Senior game days.
Sometimes referred to as a quiet achiever Jackson has never sought recognition for the help he provides to the Fremantle Rugby Club and is a deserved winner of the NRLWA Junior Club Person of the Year award.
Attention ALL WARL Past & Present Players, Referees, Committee Members and Supporters..
The 2018 re-union day will be held at Swan Yacht Club, Saturday 3rd November from 12pm. Please see the attached flyer for all of the details.

Come and see who will be the next inductee in to the NRLWA “Hall of Fame”
Our deepest sympathy goes to Peter and Glenys Marshall and family on the passing of their son Darren. Darren played for the North Beach Rugby League club and was taken way too early. The thoughts of all past players are with them at this time
Congratulations to Brian McAuliffe for being inducted into the NRLWA Hall of Fame at the WARL Past Players & Supporters Re-union Day
Brian McAuliffe receives his NRLWA Hall of Fame recognition from WARL Past Players President John Moore
Brian has been involved with Rugby League all his life and was originally with the Mt Pleasant Rugby League Club (for those that remember this club) where he was a star junior footballer, captaining both club, touring and WA State sides. Brian went on to be a major part of the Applecross RLC once Mt Pleasant and Applecross combined in 1961 and was a key player in Applecross’ run of 11 straight grand final appearances between 1962 – 1972.
Brian has been a club player, coach and committee member for many years, even starting the Melville Junior RLC as an feeder club for Applecross through his association as a teacher at Melville Primary School. Brian also coached State junior sides for many years.
Brian’s contribution to Rugby League in WA for over 5 decades make him a very worthy and popular inductee into the prestigious NRLWA Hall of Fame.
Don’t forget to come down to East Fremantle Yacht Club for the WARL Past Players and Supporters Re-union TOMORROW from 12.30 pm.
See who will be inducted in to the NRLWA “Hall of Fame” and join WA Rugby League legends such as Brian Wedgewood, Colin Constantine, Alec Lockley and Isaac Thomas to name just a few..
RLWC Qtr Finals LIVE on the Big Screen, Guest Speakers, Raffles, Finger Food and Cold drinks will set the scene of catching up with old mates and rivals with the Swan River as a magnificent back drop..
$10 Entry, Cash Bar available.
Come on down for a great day of everything WA Rugby League…..
