Congratulations to Rod Fielding on being inducted into the NRLWA Hall of Fame at last Saturday’s WARL Past Players and Supporters re-union day.
Rod is a popular and worthy recipient with contributions to Western Australian Rugby League spanning over many years. Rod’s playing history in WA started with the Mosman Cottesloe Rugby League club. He played WA State, Coached numerous sides and Refereed 1st grade at both Domestic and State level for over 11 years.
He became a Life member of the WARL Referees Association in 1998, a WARL Life Member in 2004 as well as a Life Member of his beloved Rockingham Rugby League Club.
It was an emotional Rod that accepted his award from WARL Past Players co-founder Len Castle. Accompanied by his wife, Kathy and son Michael, Rod shed a tear as he expressed how much his inclusion in the Hall of Fame meant to him. He also carried a small memento from his mum who had passed away, so that she could be there with him.
